Stonebridge Farm

We are a regenerative farm located in Chesterfield, MA. We raise grass fed & finished beef and lamb, grass fed rabbit, pasture-raised eggs, and registered St. Croix sheep breeding stock.

Soil health is our guiding principle. We think of ourselves not only as livestock farmers or grass farmers, but as microbe farmers. We use animals as a tool to nourish the soil, which then supports more nutrient dense grass, which in turn becomes healthy, sustainable food.

pasture raised hens

Healthier birds, more nutrient-dense eggs, and more resilient land.

Pastured hens are able to express natural behaviors—scratching, pecking, dust bathing, while foraging for a diverse diet that includes grasses, clover, weeds, seeds, insects, and worms, alongside supplemental grain.

This varied diet contributes to richer yolks and higher levels of vitamins and beneficial fats in the eggs.

At the same time, hens help cycle nutrients, reduce pests, and fertilize the soil, making pasture-based systems a win for animal welfare, egg quality, and ecological health.

The practice mimics natural grazing patterns, improving soil health, pasture productivity, and animal well-being. When animals are moved frequently at high density, they graze more evenly, trample organic matter into the soil, and allow plants adequate recovery time, which builds soil structure and increases carbon sequestration.

Sheep and cows complement one another by eating different plants and grazing at different heights—cows prefer grasses while sheep target forbs and weeds—resulting in more complete pasture utilization and reduced parasite pressure.

Together, they convert diverse pasture plants into nutrient-rich meat and milk while strengthening the resilience of the land.
